In an unprecedented move, the Indian Army's senior leadership, led by Gen Upendra Dwivedi, is set to assemble in Sikkim near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) for a high-stakes meeting. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the gathering, marking the first instance of such a pivotal meeting taking place in proximity to the LAC, as per defence sources.
The Sikkim meeting, scheduled from October 10-11, will feature top defence figures, including Defence Minister Singh. It will primarily focus on assessing the sensitive border situation in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, regions marked by frequent stand-offs and confrontations between Indian and Chinese forces.
The second phase of the conference is slated for October 28-29 in Delhi. Here, commanders will deliberate on insights gained from ongoing global conflicts and their implications for the Indian Army's various branches. This convention marks Gen Dwivedi's inaugural assembly as Chief of Army Staff, following his appointment in June. Recently, Gen Dwivedi highlighted the 'stable but abnormal' border scenario with China, emphasizing the erosion of trust with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) due to the prolonged standoff.
