The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken decisive action against the Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) by designating it an unlawful organization. Announced Tuesday, the move imposes a five-year ban over its alleged involvement in activities that threaten India's integrity and security.
According to the notification, the organization, led by Masroor Abbas Ansari, has been implicated in supporting terrorist activities and disseminating separatist propaganda in Jammu and Kashmir. The group has allegedly raised funds to support unlawful operations in the region, leading to the enforcement of the ban under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, of 1967.
The Central Government, emphasizing the seriousness of JKIM's operations, has directed that the notification will be effective for five years from its official publication date. The group's activities, seen as a threat to national security, include inciting public unrest, encouraging armed resistance, and promoting anti-India sentiments, compelling this firm governmental response.
