The Delhi government is intensifying its efforts to tackle air pollution in the capital by rolling out a new CSR initiative. Under this program, more than 10,000 electric heaters will be given to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to prevent the use of wood and coal for heating during winter.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stressed the importance of community involvement in policing pollution violations, such as wood burning. She appealed to RWAs to be proactive in monitoring and urged public support for this initiative to effectively reduce pollution levels.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa called for stricter regulations to curb the use of fossil fuels and unregulated burning activities, reiterating that all sectors, including industries and individuals, must collaborate to make Delhi pollution-free. The government's plan includes supplying gas cylinders and heaters to ease this transition.
