Khor Mor Gas Field Resumes Operations After Drone Attack
Operations at Iraq's Khor Mor gas field resumed after a drone attack halted production, causing extensive power cuts. The attack damaged a storage tank, leading to a shutdown. The Kurdistan region's autonomy makes it a significant area for U.S. energy investments. Investigation into the attack continues.
In a swift response to recent disruptions, operations at Iraq's Khor Mor gas field resumed early Sunday morning. The Kurdish regional government confirmed the recommencement of gas transmission to power stations, which had been halted due to a drone attack.
The attack, occurring Thursday, targeted a storage tank at one of the largest gas fields in the Kurdistan region, causing a widespread shutdown in production and consequent power outages. Despite the severity of the incident, no group has claimed responsibility, and authorities have yet to identify the perpetrators.
This event marks the most significant attack since July's drone strikes on oilfields, which drastically reduced regional production. The Kurdistan Regional Government maintains autonomy in northern Iraq, a region where U.S. energy firms have substantial investments.
