The recent two-day conference in Udaipur focused on discussions to bolster India's food processing ecosystem concluded successfully on Tuesday. Key outcomes of the event included proposals to establish a National Food Processing Promotion Council and the Bharat Quality Food Mark.
Chaired by Union Minister Chirag Paswan, the session was attended by representatives from 22 central ministries, 27 state governments and Union Territories, over 30 industry members, and academic institutions. This mirrors an integrated government-industry approach.
Participants underscored the necessity of a dynamic food processing sector to support agri-value chains, boost exports, and establish India as a premier global supplier of high-quality food products. Initiatives like farmer income enhancement, post-harvest loss reduction, food safety, and large-scale employment creation were also highlighted.
