The Indian Army is undertaking significant community outreach in Jammu & Kashmir by organizing health initiatives that include medical camps, aiming to bolster government healthcare services in remote and border regions.

Among the efforts are comprehensive medical camps in areas like Uri, which have benefitted over 1,300 civilians from remote villages through specialist consultations and other healthcare services. This initiative emphasizes enhancing access to health services, aligning with the Army's security mandate and community support roles.

Leading up to Naushera Day 2026, the Army, in conjunction with the Government Medical College Rajouri, hosted a Multi-Speciality Medical Camp in Naushera, providing free health services to local residents. The camp featured services from specialists in fields such as gynaecology and orthopaedics and included the distribution and fitting of prosthetic limbs for 45 disabled individuals.

Healthcare professionals, including Dr. Shubham Dutt, stressed the crucial benefits offered to border area residents. The initiative included free basic lab tests and an awareness drive on cancer prevention, underscoring the Army's commitment to community wellness beyond its defense obligations.

Army officials reiterated the event's alignment with Naushera Day's spirit, promoting civil-military partnerships through collaborations with local institutions, thereby strengthening healthcare access in underserved areas.
