The Department of Disaster Management Affairs has reported that 9,598 households have been severely affected, with evacuation camps established in six councils.

Efforts to provide aid to impacted families are underway as officials seek financial support and technical assistance from both local and international partners. The flooding has also destroyed significant agricultural assets, including crops and livestock, impacting Malawi's tobacco production, a key export commodity.
