A new book, 'Claiming Our Skies,' chronicles this flagship initiative's impact on rural transformation, highlighting its success in forming self-help groups, enhancing financial inclusion, and fostering women's leadership across India.

The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) has been hailed as one of the most significant initiatives in rural poverty alleviation and women's empowerment. Former Rural Development Secretary Shailesh Kumar Singh highlighted these achievements during the launch of a new book titled 'Claiming Our Skies,' commemorating the mission's 15th anniversary.

This book, published by Social Science Press and brought out by Transform Rural India, documents the decade-long journey of the NRLM. With contributions from 30 experts, it showcases the program's evolution in rural transformation through self-help groups, federations, and livelihood initiatives.

Over 100 million rural women have been mobilized into more than 9 million self-help groups, showcasing the program's immense scale. It stands as a global leader in social sector initiatives, fostering financial inclusion and women's leadership, driving a profound shift in community dynamics across India.
