Anbumani Ramadoss Urges Central Government to Maintain Priority Electricity Supply to Tamil Nadu

In a recent appeal, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has urged the Central Government to reconsider its plan to discontinue priority electricity allocation to Tamil Nadu. He expressed concerns over a central circular which states that electricity from national thermal and nuclear plants will now be sold through competitive bids.
Anbumani warned that this policy shift would adversely affect Tamil Nadu's ability to fulfill its electricity needs and infringe on state rights. Arguing that no Indian state is self-sufficient in power, he highlighted Tamil Nadu's precarious situation, which he described as particularly 'dire'.
He further alleged that Tamil Nadu's electricity board, already suffering due to governmental mismanagement, would face additional financial burdens. This would likely force an increase in electricity tariffs, a change that he insists residents of Tamil Nadu cannot tolerate.
