BioPrime inks commercial pact with Mosaic Co to integrate biological innovations into crop nutrition

Indian agri-biological firm BioPrime AgriSolutions on Monday said it has inked a commercial agreement with US fertilizer giant Mosaic Co to integrate biological innovations into conventional crop nutrition products.

The partnership will integrate BioPrime's biological technologies, derived from its proprietary SNIPR platform, into Mosaic's existing fertilizer frameworks, with both companies saying the goal is to move beyond basic plant nutrition towards a system that strengthens crops throughout their growth cycle.

''Fertilizers have powered global agriculture for over a century. Our partnership with Mosaic is about honouring that legacy while fundamentally advancing what fertilizers can deliver,'' BioPrime AgriSolutions Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Renuka Diwan said in a statement.

The companies said their joint offering, described as a Crop Performance System, was designed to improve returns on crop nutrition investment, support higher output from existing farmland without proportionally increasing environmental impact, and scale across different crops and geographies.

''Our collaboration with BioPrime is another step in building integrated solutions that help growers improve productivity, nutrient efficiency and overall farm performance,'' Robin Edwin, Director at Mosaic, said.

The announcement comes as farmers worldwide face fertilizer price swings linked to geopolitical disruptions and supply chain strains, while regulators and consumers increasingly demand that productivity gains come with a lower environmental footprint.

Mosaic, headquartered in Tampa, Florida, is one of the world's largest producers of potash and phosphate fertilizers, supplying customers in more than 40 countries.

BioPrime, based in Pune, focuses on climate resilience, soil health and nutrient efficiency through its biological product portfolio.

Financial terms of the collaboration were not disclosed.
