Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a move that follows directions from the Congress high command. This has resulted in the immediate dissolution of the Council of Ministers under Siddaramaiah's leadership. Despite resigning, Siddaramaiah will remain in his role until new arrangements are in place.

The Congress party is now expediting efforts towards government formation in the state. Karnataka Congress President D K Shivakumar is scheduled to meet with Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi to deliberate on the upcoming cabinet reshuffle. Party insiders have revealed that Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, and AICC Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala, will engage in discussions with the party's senior leadership.

Top priorities during the talks include decisions on Rajya Sabha and MLC candidates, as well as the cabinet reshuffle itself. Several ministers from Siddaramaiah's previous cabinet are anticipated to be left out of the new Shivakumar-led formation. To ensure balance within the government, the party is aiming to appoint four Deputy Chief Ministers, with speculations of Yathindra Siddaramaiah joining the cabinet to uphold Siddaramaiah's political legacy.
