The National Testing Agency (NTA) has informed the Supreme Court of comprehensive security and structural reforms following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak scandal and subsequent exam cancellation. Petitions from medical associations demanded corrective actions due to procedural irregularities.

An affidavit reveals that a High-Powered Steering Committee (HPSC) reviewed NEET-UG 2026 preparations on April 17, recommending stringent safeguards before, during, and after the exams. Measures include mandatory CCTV monitoring, disaster planning, power verification, and enhanced centre inspections. Post-exam forensic CCTV analysis aims to detect undetected irregularities.

The HPSC will reassess post-exam whether future NEETs should be computer-based. Already, several High-Level Committee recommendations have been executed. Organizational restructuring created 16 senior positions, strengthening NTA with domain experts. Coordination via State and District Committees ensures strengthened exam security as of May 3, 2026.
