In a significant crackdown on cybercrime under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the Gujarat Government has launched a comprehensive statewide operation. The initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, has been pivotal in dismantling a complex network of mule accounts used to facilitate cyber fraud schemes.
Operation Mule Hunt 1.0, executed in 2025 by the Gujarat Police and the Cyber Centre of Excellence, unfolded with strategic precision. This operation coordinated efforts among Police Commissioners, Range Heads, Local Crime Branch Inspectors, and Cyber Police Stations. Real-time data sharing with banks was crucial in tracing economic fraud worth ₹2,289 crore.
Notably, this initiative resulted in an impressive enforcement record with 565 FIRs and 638 arrests linked to illicit activities. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to combat digital crimes, recognizing the critical role of AI technology in monitoring and mitigating cyber threats.
