Revolutionary RetCam Facility Unveiled in Jalna for Premature Babies
A cutting-edge RetCam Retinopathy Diagnostic Centre has opened in Maharashtra's Jalna city to combat blindness in premature infants. Established under a global grant and costing Rs 2 crore, the facility enhances early detection and treatment of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), crucial for infant eye health.

A state-of-the-art RetCam Retinopathy Diagnostic Centre has been inaugurated at an eye hospital in Jalna city, Maharashtra. The initiative, costing Rs 2 crore, is designed to facilitate early diagnosis and prevention of blindness in premature infants.
The Shri Ganapati Netralaya now hosts the advanced facility, specifically targeting Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). This serious eye disorder predominantly affects infants born before 31 weeks or weighing less than 1,500 grams, involving abnormal retinal development.
Funded by the Rotary Foundation's USA-India Global Grant, the centre aims to intercept the condition early to prevent complications such as scarring, retinal detachment, and blindness, significantly impacting neonatal care standards.
