Trump Announces Xi's Upcoming Visit to the US Amid Strengthened Ties
US President Donald Trump announced an expected visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the US around September 24. The announcement was made during Trump's state visit to China, where both leaders discussed reciprocal trade and reinforced their commitment to direct and open dialogue.
In a significant diplomatic development, US President Donald Trump disclosed on Friday that Chinese President Xi Jinping is anticipated to visit the United States around September 24. Trump described the proposed trip as a 'reciprocal' gesture, aligning with the mutual trade relations between the two superpowers, as he wrapped up his own two-day state visit to China.
During a press briefing at Beijing's Zhongnanhai leadership compound, Trump expressed his appreciation towards President Xi and his team. He mentioned, 'I want to thank President Xi and all of his representatives. We've become friendly with all of them; they're great people. It's an honour to be here, and we'll be back. And I believe on September 24th, or thereabouts, President Xi is going to be coming to the United States, and we will be reciprocal—like reciprocal trade, the visit will be reciprocal.'
Trump emphasized the importance of continued engagement between the US and China, assuring that discussions would remain open and straightforward. He remarked, 'We're going to lay it on the line, and you're going to walk away, I hope, impressed, much like I'm impressed with China.' The visit culminated in Trump expressing gratitude for the hospitality, marking a positive and historic interaction between the two global leaders.
