EU has to change posture in Arctic as Russia rebuilds military presence, von der Leyen

The European Union ‌must change its strategic posture in the ‌Arctic as Russia is rebuilding its military footprint there and values ‌that underpinned security in the ‌region can no longer be taken for granted, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday.

"The Arctic is one place where the tectonic plates of geopolitics are colliding. And it is not someone else's frontier. It is part of the European Union," von der Leyen said, presenting a new EU strategy for the Arctic.
