Germany assessing all options on withdrawal from Niger, Mali - minister

Germany is in touch with counterparts in Niger as it assesses options both for its troops currently in that country and its military withdrawal from neighbouring Mali, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Monday.

"We are in talks and preparing for the different scenarios with different options. You can assume that," Pistorius told reporters during a visit to a Bundeswehr cybersecurity facility.

On the withdrawal of German troops from Niger, the minister said those responsible for the coup have promised to adhere to international agreements but added that this was yet to be seen.
