A 50-year-old deaf and dumb man was arrested near Bekal for allegedly flashing a woman on a bus, police announced on Wednesday.

The individual was charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for insulting the modesty of a woman by word or gesture, according to Bekal police officials. Although the offence is bailable, he was arrested on Tuesday and subsequently released on station bail.

The arrest came after the woman, who was traveling on the bus with her daughter, noticed the man exhibiting his private parts. Despite realizing he was being watched, the man persisted and the woman recorded the incident on video, which was later aired on TV channels.

This incident adds to a series of similar occurrences in the state over the past year.
