Chief Minister Pema Khandu has admitted to a deficit of administrative officers across several districts in Arunachal Pradesh, citing the 2022 Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak as the cause.

During the Assembly's Question Hour, Khandu assured senior BJP MLA Wanglin Lowangdong that recruitment for APCS entry-grade officers would begin soon with the reconstitution of the commission. He stated that the government is working to rationally fill all grades of APCS officers, including lateral entries.

Currently, only 130 out of the sanctioned 236 entry-grade positions are filled, resulting in a shortage of 106 officers. Khandu emphasized that this deficiency has persisted due to the APPSC scandal, and urgent steps would be taken to address vacancies, especially in critical districts like Tirap, bordering Myanmar and Nagaland.
