On Monday, Delhi Congress held candle-light marches at multiple locations across the national capital to honor the memories of three civil services aspirants who tragically lost their lives in the flooded basement of a coaching center.

The marches, conducted in areas including central and north Delhi, also sought justice for another aspirant who recently died due to electrocution in Patel Nagar, according to a party statement.

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav demanded strict punitive measures against those responsible for both incidents. He further called for a Rs 1 crore compensation for the bereaved families and urged the resignation of Delhi Water Minister Atishi and MCD Mayor Shelly Oberoi for alleged negligence and lack of preventive action. Yadav criticized the AAP and BJP for engaging in blame games instead of addressing the deteriorating infrastructure. The flooding incident happened on July 27, when water from a blocked drain inundated the library in the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar. To date, seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident.
