Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government of negligence toward the plight of hundreds of flood-hit villages. He stated that while citizens are in distress, the administration is preoccupied with other matters.
Floods and heavy rains have wreaked havoc in dozens of districts, destroying farmers' crops, homes, and other properties. Yadav alleged that despite the gravity of the situation and many lives lost, the government remains indifferent.
He pointed out that rivers are overflowing in districts such as Sitapur, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Gonda, and Barabanki. The floods, combined with wild animal attacks, have severely impacted life in the affected regions. Despite raising this issue for over a year, the Samajwadi Party claims that the government has not taken action. Yadav further accused the government of misusing power instead of aiding the flood victims.
