Drake II announced that the event unfolded Saturday night on the institution's east campus, and that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is spearheading the probe.
President Drake underscored that the safety of students, faculty, and staff remains the foremost concern for Albany State University. He conveyed his sentiments through a statement released on Sunday, reaffirming the institution's commitment to the well-being of its community.
Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler detailed that the victim is a 19-year-old male from Atlanta, who succumbed to his injuries at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The Associated Press is awaiting confirmation of the deceased's name. Albany State University currently hosts approximately 6,000 students.
