In a shocking incident of cyber fraud, a 79-year-old Mumbai resident found himself defrauded of Rs 6.25 lakh when unidentified individuals allegedly hacked his credit card. Police reported the incident this Tuesday.

The victim first became aware of the fraud through text notifications showcasing unauthorized deductions from his credit-card-linked bank account in July. Acting swiftly, he contacted the bank's customer service and lodged a complaint with the Cyber department.

Despite promptly blocking his credit card, the victim was instructed to settle his dues by the bank. An FIR was subsequently filed at the Bandra police station with officials confirming the card hack, though investigations continue with no arrests as of yet.
