Raj Kumar, 31, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana, was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in a widespread online job scam. This operation reportedly spanned 23 states, with police registering 85 complaints against him.
The scheme unraveled after a complaint was filed, revealing Kumar's tactic of luring victims through social media with promises of a part-time job requiring only the liking and sharing of videos, in exchange for commissions. Victims were then persuaded to invest with the promise of substantial returns, only for communications to cease and social media groups to vanish once funds were transferred.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police for Dwarka, Ankit Singh, confirmed Kumar's arrest and noted the recovery of a mobile phone, two SIM cards, and a debit card. Investigators have traced suspicious transactions amounting to Rs 1.4 crore in his bank account.
