In a significant forensic breakthrough, officials announced on Friday that the police have identified the body of Dr. Anand Kumar Vishwanath Indi, a pilgrim from Maharashtra, who had been missing for over a year. The identification was achieved through advanced DNA testing techniques.
Dr. Anand, a Solapur resident, mysteriously disappeared during a visit to Badrinath last September. His brother, Dr. Devendra Vishwanath Indi, promptly reported the incident, leading to a police investigation.
On October 19 of the same year, authorities discovered an unidentified decomposed body at the confluence of the Saraswati and Alaknanda rivers. Initial attempts to identify the body proved challenging, prompting the extraction of a DNA sample. The subsequent match with Dr. Devendra's DNA conclusively identified the body as that of the missing pilgrim.
