In the wake of a controversial demolition in the Transport Nagar area, Jammu and Kashmir's Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, has taken a firm stand against the Jammu Development Authority's 'selective' anti-encroachment drive which targeted a social media journalist's home.

Choudhary has requested Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to spearhead an inquiry, stressing that the government's actions deviated from the mandates of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who oversees relevant departments. Insisting on upholding constitutional principles, he emphasized watchdog vigilance to ensure accountability and justice.

Highlighting the perceived dual power system's role in these unilateral decisions, Choudhary voiced the National Conference's push for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. This, he asserted, would curb undue bureaucratic influence and align governmental actions more closely with democratic ideals.
