In a significant crackdown, North Delhi police arrested two men accused of selling and distributing counterfeit cigarettes. During coordinated raids, authorities seized over 2.7 lakh fake cigarette sticks from a shop, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The operation commenced following a tip-off about the circulation of counterfeit cigarettes in the Lahori Gate area. The seized items were illicitly sold as genuine branded products, leading to substantial economic damage to both manufacturers and government revenues.
The accused, identified as Ramjeet alias Vijay and Ankit, faced charges for illegally trading and storing counterfeit tobacco products. With an investigation underway, police aim to dismantle the entire supply chain network responsible for this illegal trade.
