In a statement made on Sunday, Chief Minister M K Stalin declared Tamil Nadu's readiness to extend support to cyclone-stricken Sri Lanka through the provision of essential supplies such as food and medicine, facilitated by the Union government.
Stalin revealed that he has instructed Chief Secretary N Muruganandam to assemble a committee to coordinate with the central authorities in executing this humanitarian effort. The aim: efficient distribution and aid delivery to the affected regions.
Additionally, the state has taken proactive measures to repatriate Tamil Nadu passengers stranded in Sri Lanka. The first phase saw the safe return of 177 individuals, including children and women, back to their homeland. Stalin also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in Sri Lanka, emphasizing solidarity with the island's populace.
