Punjab Police has successfully dismantled a cross-border arms smuggling network, which officials claim had direct links to a handler based in Pakistan. Six individuals, including a juvenile, have been taken into custody as part of the operation.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the recovery of six pistols from those apprehended. According to initial investigations, the suspects maintained contact with the Pakistan-based handler via social media, receiving coordinates for weapon consignments.
In a statement made on social media platform X, DGP Yadav indicated the module's involvement in supplying illegal firearms to criminal entities operating in Majha and Doaba regions of Punjab. An FIR under the Arms Act has been filed, and authorities are further probing to identify additional network elements including financial channels.
