The Jadavpur University Teachers' Association (JUTA) has issued a protest warning, claiming the West Bengal Higher Education Department may withhold pensions and salaries. The association alleges that pensions for October and November and the November salary have been delayed, attributing it to the university's depleted corpus fund due to salary obligations.

According to JUTA General Secretary Partha Pratim Roy, a new order has transferred pension approval to the Directorate of Pension. This shift, along with uncertainties around the new HRMS software for salary approval, raises fears about future payments. JUTA claims repeated appeals to the university administration have been ignored despite pressure from university's government representatives.

In response, a senior higher education official denied any possibility of withholding pensions or salaries, attributing any delays to the transition of HR duties to a centralized system. The official assured that the economic benefits of university staff would remain intact.
