The Supreme Court of India issued a stern warning on Friday, voicing disapproval over a recent plea questioning its prior decision to grant minority schools exemption from the Right to Education Act provisions.
A bench, including Justices BV Nagarathna and R Mahadevan, imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on the petitioner, signaling a clear message to deter similar actions in the future.
The lawsuit filed by NGO United Voice for Education Forum labeled the exemptions as unconstitutional, which the court promptly addressed by reiterating the 2014 judgment that ensured protections for minority institutions as per Article 30(1).
