Sajid Akram, a 50-year-old involved in the Bondi Beach mass shooting, was killed in Australia. Originally from Hyderabad, he moved to Australia in 1998 and maintained limited contact with his family in India, the Telangana Police confirmed on Tuesday.
The attack, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people during a Hanukkah celebration, has been described as 'a terrorist attack inspired by the Islamic State' by Australia's federal police commissioner, Krissy Barrett.
Authorities have identified the suspect duo as father and son, with Sajid Akram being one of the key figures. He last visited India for familial obligations but had no known radical activities back home. The Telangana Police continues to cooperate with central agencies in the case.
