In a bid to prevent illegal cross-border movement, authorities in Assam's Cachar district have issued prohibitory orders along the India-Bangladesh frontier, according to an official statement released Wednesday.

The measures, implemented under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, aim to deter the potential infiltration of extremist elements and curb unauthorized activities that threaten regional stability. District Magistrate Mridul Yadav, who issued the directive on Tuesday, stressed the need for vigilance, particularly regarding the unchecked movement that could fuel unlawful endeavors during nocturnal hours.

These prohibitions include restrictions on individual movements from sunset to sunrise within a one-kilometer stretch along the district's border. Activities on the River Surma, such as boating and fishing, face stringent regulations unless authorized. The movement of essential commodities is also curtailed, with official exemptions granted only after thorough verification, ensuring transparency and coordination between civil and security agencies.
