During a session in Parliament, UPPL MP Rwngwra Narzary expressed serious concerns about the stagnation affecting tribal autonomous councils, highlighting the long-delayed Constitution (125th Amendment) Bill, 2019.

Narzary emphasized that while the Constitution's Sixth Schedule provides self-governance to tribal populations, the ten councils formed under this provision have remained stagnant for decades, hindering their development opportunities.

He called for the government to prioritize the passage of the 2019 amendment bill, underscoring the necessity for vibrant reforms to empower these councils, as envisioned by past and recent accords, to fulfill their mission effectively.
