In a significant crackdown on cyber fraud, Delhi Police have apprehended Naveen, a 23-year-old, for allegedly scamming over Rs 90,000 from a complainant with fraudulent e-SIM activation. This arrest marks a critical step in addressing the growing challenge of digital theft.
The accused, identified as Naveen alias Pradeep from Haryana's Fatehabad, was arrested on January 14. He reportedly admitted to procuring and distributing e-SIMs and regular SIM cards to facilitate online fraud, including fictitious account creation, according to police statements.
Police efforts leveraged technical surveillance and digital footprint analysis to trace Naveen to Tohana, further aided by the registration of a mobile number in his name. As the investigation progresses, authorities aim to unravel any accomplices and further fraudulent activities associated with the suspect.
