The Delhi High Court has denied Kuldeep Singh Sengar's petition to suspend his 10-year imprisonment sentence in the custodial death case of the Unnao rape victim's father. This decision was made despite acknowledging Sengar's lengthy 7.5 years of incarceration.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja emphasized that relief was not granted due to delays caused by Sengar's numerous interim suspension applications. The judge urged that the case should be expedited and resolved based on its merits, with no new circumstances justifying a pause in the sentence.
The appeal is scheduled for a hearing on February 3. Sengar, convicted in 2019 for the brutal crimes, has multiple cases pending against him, highlighting ongoing legal challenges in the high-profile Unnao incident.
