The Supreme Court granted Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com, temporary protection from arrest in a fraud-related case. The top court's bench, comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and N V Anjaria, overturned a Telangana High Court decision and remanded the matter back for reevaluation.

Anupam Mittal and his co-accused, Vignesh and Satish, were implicated following allegations by a Hyderabad woman. She claimed to have been defrauded of Rs 11 lakh by a man using a fake profile on the matrimonial platform, questioning the site's verification processes.

During proceedings, Senior Advocate Atmaram Nadkarni argued that Mittal's role is purely as a facilitator in matchmaking, not warranting his status as an accused. The Supreme Court directed the high court to review the quashing petition on its merits and invited Mittal to seek interim bail.
