In a high-profile case involving international intrigue, Indian national Nikhil Gupta has pleaded guilty to several charges, including murder-for-hire and money laundering, aimed at eliminating Sikh extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

Gupta, standing before US Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn, admitted his role in the convoluted plot that had co-conspirators stretching from India to the United States. The case also involves co-defendant Vikash Yadav, who worked closely with Gupta.

Gupta's sentencing is slated for May 29, 2024, before US District Judge Victor Marrero. He could face a potential combined sentence of up to 40 years, shedding light on the serious legal consequences of international criminal plots.
