An Indian-origin man, Om Kumar Rai, has been sentenced to five months in jail for using criminal force with the intent to outrage the modesty of a woman, as stated in a recent media report. The Straits Times reported that the victim's identity and the location of the incident have been withheld from court documents.

Rai, aged 42, admitted guilt to the charges. On June 17, 2025, he approached a 22-year-old woman early in the morning, claiming to be her father's colleague, and engaged her in conversation. The prosecution revealed that Rai led the woman to a secluded area under the guise of talking and subsequently molested her.

The woman managed to fend him off and later informed her parents before filing a police report that morning. Prosecutors sought a jail term of five to six months, describing Rai's actions as 'undoubtedly intrusive,' according to the Singapore daily. Penalties for such offenses may include up to three years in prison, fines, caning, or a combination of these.
