An unidentified man on a motorcycle allegedly attacked a 40-year-old woman labourer with acid in Ludhiana, Punjab, leaving her severely injured, authorities reported on Tuesday. The incident occurred in Dugri Colony and involved a woman originally from Uttar Pradesh, who is a mother of three.
The attacker lured the victim towards him under the guise of seeking help before allegedly throwing acid on her. The resultant injuries to the woman's face and eyes led to her being swiftly transported to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment. Clad in a helmet, the assailant escaped the scene, complicating identification efforts.
The police are critically examining CCTV footage to track down the suspect responsible for this heinous act. ''We are utilizing all available resources to identify and apprehend the accused,'' asserted DCP Jaskaranjit Singh Teja. Authorities are actively seeking the attacker and requesting the public's assistance with any information that could lead to an arrest.
