In a devastating attack, militants from the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) targeted a security checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bajaur district, resulting in 12 fatalities, including 11 security personnel and one child, the military confirmed.
The banned TTP claimed responsibility for the attack, utilizing an explosive-laden vehicle to breach the perimeter of the joint security checkpost. In swift retaliation, security forces neutralized 12 terrorists while sanitization operations are underway to root out remaining threats in the area.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, condemned the attack and affirmed the government's commitment to enhanced counter-terrorism measures following a surge in regional violence, which saw fatalities increase significantly last year. He assured intensified efforts to support affected families and ensure regional peace.
