Major Medical Groups Battle FTC Over Gender-Affirming Care Investigation

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Endocrine Society have launched legal actions against the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), accusing it of conducting an investigation aimed at stifling their support for gender-affirming care for transgender youth.

Both organizations have separately turned to federal court, alleging the FTC's demands for extensive information are designed to intimidate them, constituting a breach of free speech protections. The legal actions follow demands made by the FTC for documents and data related to pediatric gender dysphoria treatment.

AAP seeks to block the FTC's document request, calling it an overreach of authority. The FTC has yet to comment on the ongoing litigation.
