In a recent political controversy, Babulal Marandi, the Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand assembly, has taken a strong stance against the West Bengal government's alleged treatment of President Droupadi Murmu. He criticized the government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, for reportedly snubbing the President during her visit to the state.
Marandi described the incident as an insult not only to President Murmu but also to the Constitution and democratic principles. He urged Banerjee to apologize publicly for what he termed an unfortunate event. The President, during her address in Siliguri, raised concerns about the absence of any West Bengal ministers at her event.
The opposition leader further alleged that the event's venue was changed multiple times at the last minute, which he viewed as a breach of standard protocols when hosting a dignitary. Marandi suggested Banerjee's actions might stem from political frustration, suspecting a decline in support for her party.
