20-Year Sentence for International Drug Trafficking Duo

A court in Ahmedabad sentenced a Nigerian and a Zambian national to 20 years in prison for international drug trafficking. The duo was fined Rs 2 lakh each under the NDPS Act. They were apprehended by the Narcotics Control Bureau with heroin worth smuggling from Dubai to Ahmedabad.

In a significant ruling, the Ahmedabad court has sentenced two foreign nationals, a Nigerian and a Zambian, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for their involvement in an international drug trafficking case.

The special court for Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act cases also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on each of the accused, according to the order passed on Tuesday.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) nabbed Hanchabila John of Zambia for smuggling 2.75 kg of heroin from Dubai to Ahmedabad. His Nigerian counterpart, Nwaobu Christian Arinze, was identified as the receiver and arrested. Both were convicted under the NDPS Act.
