In a bid to offer immediate relief to regions affected by natural disasters, the Centre has sanctioned financial assistance totaling Rs 1,912.99 crore to five states and Jammu & Kashmir. This decision was made by a high-level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as per an official statement released on Friday.

The funds are designated for Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Nagaland, among others. The allocated amounts are Rs 341.48 crore for Andhra Pradesh, Rs 15.70 crore for Chhattisgarh, Rs 778.67 crore for Gujarat, Rs 288.39 crore for Himachal Pradesh, Rs 158.41 crore for Nagaland, and Rs 330.34 crore for Jammu & Kashmir, respectively.

This aid complements the financial resources already provided under State and National Disaster Response and Mitigation Funds. "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the Indian government extends unwavering support to state governments during natural calamities," the statement added.
