Shubham Jaiswal, identified as the kingpin of a cough syrup trafficking operation, has been declared a proclaimed offender by a local court. Jaiswal failed to appear in court despite being issued a notice, prompting police action.

According to Rohania Station House Officer Raju Singh, the Fast Track Court had instructed Jaiswal to appear by a specific deadline. Upon his failure to comply, a case was filed by investigating officer Dinesh Tripathi, labeling Jaiswal an absconder.

The development comes as authorities intensify a crackdown on illegal codeine trafficking. This includes financial investigations in other cities, leading to asset seizures and bank account freezes, as part of efforts to dismantle the drug trafficking network.
