Jammu & Kashmir's Commitment to Daily Wager Regularisation Gains Traction

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reaffirmed his commitment to regularise daily wagers during a legislative session. Addressing the opposition to a bill seeking their regularisation, he emphasized the forthcoming committee recommendations. Abdullah assured a phased implementation plan, aligning with promises made during the previous budget session.

Abdullah made these remarks while opposing a bill introduced by CPI(M) legislator M Y Tarigami in the legislative assembly that sought to formalize the employment of casual workers. While rejecting the bill's admission, Abdullah expressed broad consensus on the need to address the long-standing issue.

The Chief Minister assured that the process of regularising these workers would begin this year in a phased manner, with a roadmap prepared for discussion in the next budget session. Tarigami later withdrew the bill after Abdullah's reassurances.
