In a spiritually significant and culturally resonant event, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira at Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri in Mandya, Karnataka, reaffirming India’s deep-rooted civilizational values while linking them to modern nation-building and sustainable development.

Addressing a massive gathering of devotees and spiritual leaders, the Prime Minister described the occasion as a deeply emotional and transformative experience. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness the grand inauguration and interact with revered saints, stating that such moments transcend words and leave a lasting imprint on one’s consciousness.

Spiritual Heritage Meets Modern Aspirations

Highlighting Karnataka’s unique identity, PM Modi emphasized the harmonious blend of “Tattvagyan” (philosophy) and “Tantragyan” (technology), positioning the state as a model where ancient wisdom coexists with modern innovation. He praised the people of Mandya, fondly known as “Sakkare Nagara” (Sugar City), for their warmth and cultural richness.

The Prime Minister underscored the historical and spiritual significance of the Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, noting its over 2,000-year-old legacy of guiding society through values of service, compassion, and knowledge. He lauded the contributions of spiritual luminaries such as Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji and commended the current leadership for carrying forward this legacy with renewed dynamism.

Seva as the Core of True Devotion

Drawing attention to the transformative role of saints in society, PM Modi emphasized that true devotion is not passive but action-oriented. He highlighted how spiritual leaders have historically addressed the challenges of common people, especially rural youth, through service-driven initiatives.

“True devotion is stepping forward to take responsibility for the welfare of society,” he remarked, reinforcing the idea that spirituality and social responsibility are deeply interconnected.

The Prime Minister also praised the Math’s extensive contributions to education and healthcare, including institutions that provide access to quality learning and medical services for underprivileged communities—aligning closely with the government’s inclusive development vision.

Linking Spiritual Values with Government Welfare Initiatives

Drawing parallels between the Math’s humanitarian work and national welfare programmes, PM Modi highlighted flagship schemes like Ayushman Bharat, which has enabled free healthcare access to millions of economically vulnerable citizens. He also noted the recent expansion of the scheme to include all senior citizens above 70 years of age, ensuring dignity and care for the elderly.

He further stressed the importance of environmental conservation, referencing initiatives like protecting peacocks—India’s national bird—and linking such efforts to both ecological sustainability and cultural heritage.

Nine-Point Call for Citizen-Led Nation Building

In a forward-looking appeal, the Prime Minister outlined a nine-point agenda inspired by the guiding principles of the Adichunchanagiri Math. These calls to action were aimed at mobilizing citizens toward collective responsibility and sustainable living.

Key focus areas included:

  • Water conservation and environmental protection

  • Tree plantation under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign

  • Cleanliness in public and religious spaces

  • Promotion of self-reliance through local products

  • Encouragement of domestic tourism

  • Adoption of natural farming practices

  • Inclusion of nutritious traditional foods like millets and ragi

  • Reduction in cooking oil consumption to improve public health

  • Integration of fitness, yoga, and a lifelong commitment to service

He emphasized that these steps are essential for strengthening both societal well-being and India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.

A Temple Beyond Structure: A Symbol of Inspiration

Describing the newly inaugurated Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira as more than just a physical structure, PM Modi called it a living embodiment of spiritual devotion and service. He expressed confidence that the temple would serve as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come, guiding individuals toward a life of purpose and compassion.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister reiterated that service to the needy gives life a higher meaning and strengthens the nation’s social fabric. He expressed strong optimism that collective adherence to these values would accelerate the realization of a “Viksit Bharat”—a developed and self-reliant India.
