Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the Lok Sabha, urging opposition parties not to politicize the government's bills on women's reservation and delimitation. He reiterated the importance of unity in passing the women's quota law, highlighting the electoral setbacks faced by previous opponents of such initiatives.
Modi reassured all states that the delimitation process associated with the amendment would be conducted fairly, emphasizing no state would face injustices. The debate centered around three bills, including the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, which aims to amend the women's quota law, and two others concerning Union territories.
The session saw intense debate over the bills, with Modi firmly stating that the legislation represents not a political maneuver but a step in national interest. He called for collaborative action to ensure women's involvement in decision-making at the legislative level, stressing the historical opportunity at hand for lawmakers.
