Escalation in Southern Lebanon Amid Fragile Ceasefire
Four were killed in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, amid ongoing tensions with Hezbollah despite a U.S.-mediated ceasefire. The Israeli military targeted rocket launchers linked to Hezbollah, identifying three specific locations. The ceasefire, extended for three weeks, has seen limited success in reducing hostilities.
In a series of Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, four individuals lost their lives on Saturday, according to Lebanon's state news agency. This incident follows the death of six people, marking the highest toll recorded during a recently extended ceasefire.
The Israeli military confirmed targeting rocket launchers belonging to the Iran-backed Hezbollah in three southern Lebanese locations, citing an imminent threat to IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians.
Despite the ceasefire, violence continues as both parties maintain forces in the conflict-zoned buffer area. With the ceasefire extended, but hostilities ongoing, civilians have been warned to avoid the Litani River area.
